This study ranked the best neighborhoods in Miami. Did yours make the list?

What’s the best neighborhood in Miami?

Everybody can stop arguing about it for another year: In its 2022 Best Places to Live study, Niche has once again chosen Brickell as the best place to live in Miami.

Niche, a platform that connects students and parents with colleges, evaluates cities and communities across the country using federal and local government data (like the Census and the FBI). It then compares that information with ratings from residents.

And clearly, the people of Brickell are fond of their community — Niche rated it the best place to live in Miami in 2021, too. It was also named one of the “coolest neighborhoods in the world” by TimeOut in 2021.

Here’s what Niche had to say about Brickell, which it reports as having 35,591 residents: “Living in Brickell offers residents a dense urban feel and most residents rent their homes. In Brickell there are a lot of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. Many young professionals live in Brickell and residents tend to be liberal. The public schools in Brickell are above average.”

Brickell scored highest in the areas of diversity, health and fitness, outdoor activities and commuting. Nightlife was also a high-scoring area, which makes sense when you consider rooftop bars like Sugar at East Miami, which was named one of the best rooftop bars in the country last year by Big 7 Travel.

It’s good for families, too, Niche reports, although we’re puzzled by the high rating for weather. Guess the data doesn’t mention what happens when it rains hard.

The worst scores for Brickell, not surprisingly, came in the area of housing and cost of living. Affordability is elusive in Brickell, where the median home cost is $452,059 and median rent is $2,103 a month, according to Niche.

Other highly rated Miami neighborhoods include Pinecrest, Edgewater and Coral Gables.

No South Florida neighborhoods made Niche’s top 25 Best Places to Live in America.
