Details are emerging about the shocking split between Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes.
The two posted the same, heartbreaking message to their millions of Instagram followers Wednesday night:
“Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship, but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever,” they wrote. “We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward.”
The singers, who had been dating roughly two years, seemed pretty happy as recently as September, when Mendes escorted Cabello to her “Cinderella” premiere at Vizcaya Gardens in Coconut Grove. They also showed some serious PDA at the beach on a recent trip to Miami, the former Fifth Harmony member’s hometown.
But apparently the two were just going through the motions, according to People.com.
“It just wasn’t a relationship that can move forward at this point,” the insider told the media outlet. “It seems the romance just fizzled.”
So who got the ball rolling in ending things?
A source told E! News that Mendes, 23, “initiated the conversation” and that Cabello was “very upset.”
“It was really hard for a few days but she has been spending a lot of time with friends and keeping busy,” the source said. “She has a huge support system and is feeling renewed now.”
Her most recent pics on Instagram show Cabello working out, getting healthy and “sweatin’ it.”
A supporter wrote back in the comments with a heart emoji: “Orrr not sweatin it.”
Is Cabello moving back home permanently to be with the fam? Earlier this month, the Cuban native, 24, listed her Mediterranean-style home in Los Angeles for $3.95 million.
