This study shows that Miami wins at everything (and no, we did not make this up)

As a citizen of Miami, you probably did not realize the city is capable of greatness. This is totally understandable, because constant road construction, super dumb drivers, hurricanes, withering heat and the Miami Dolphins exist.

But as it turns out, Miami - and Florida itself - just earned some bragging rights.

A study by loveholidays.com, a online UK travel agency, has concluded in its Best of Best campaign that Florida is the most award-winning state in the United States - and that Miami is the most award-winning city in Florida.

That’s a lot to take in, we know. Were these awards for most lizards and/or geckos captured inside a house? The most hours spent waiting in traffic for some idiot to move his fender-bender off to the shoulder of the highway?

No. The website analysts looked at almost 3,000 destination-awards earned from 2015 to 2019, focusing on travel, hospitality, destination, business, entertainment and conservation. Think along the lines of best resorts, best restaurants, best entertainment options.

Florida ended up with 48 awards, more than any other state, followed by Nevada and New York (both had 39). And in Florida, Miami won the most awards: 25 to Orlando’s 15, Hollywood’s three and Fort Lauderdale’s two. We have hopes for Hollywood’s future ascension in the ranks, though, due to the wonder that is the giant guitar hotel at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Sunny Isles Beach nabbed two awards, and we suspect that is largely due to Acqualina Resort.

Because of its overabundance - some might say plague - of theme parks, Orlando won five awards in the entertainment category, more than any other U.S. city, the study reports. Miami had the second-highest number of hospitality awards (14), second only to New York (17).

As a country, the U.S. was second only to the United Arab Emirates. Plan your next vacation accordingly.
