What AHIT Home Inspector Training Includes
American Home Inspectors Training (AHIT) has trained home inspectors since 1993 and is one of the largest schools in the field. Its licensing courses are built around each state’s education requirements, so the package you see depends on where you plan to work. AHIT is part of The CE Shop, which also runs real estate and appraisal licensing courses.
- State-specific pre-licensing: courses for roughly every state that licenses home inspectors, matched to that state’s required hours.
- Online or live: the online course is self-paced with video, including footage of real inspections. Live classes add field training inside real homes with an instructor.
- NHIE exam prep: the Exam Prep Edge product prepares you for the National Home Inspector Examination that many states require.
- Support after you graduate: ongoing technical and business support from AHIT instructors.
- Payment options: payment plans in 30-day installments, or 3, 6, or 12-month financing through Affirm.
Online or Live AHIT Training?
The online course is the lower-cost route and works well if you learn on your own schedule; AHIT says some students finish in as little as three weeks. Live training costs more but includes the online material plus hands-on time in real homes, which helps if you have never done an inspection before or your state requires field experience. Either way, check your state’s licensing rules first, since required hours and exam rules vary widely.
