Beast wounded but wins in wild main event at WWE SummerSlam
In a brutal, physical main event, the Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar with Paul Heyman retained the WWE Universal title by winning a fatal four-way at WWE SummerSlam on Sunday, Aug. 20 before a sold-out crowd from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Lesnar outlasted Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns. Using an F5, Lesnar pinned Reigns to end the carnage. Chairs, announce tables, steel steps, stiff moves, this one had a little of everything. Strowman buried Lesnar with an announce table. Lesnar was then carried out on a stretcher up the rampway, but he maneuvered off it and returned to the fracas.
Jinder Mahal with The Singh Brothers retained the WWE title by defeating Shinsuke Nakamura.
AJ Styles defeated Kevin Owens to retain the U.S. title. SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon served as the guest referee, and Owens was not happy with McMahon’s efforts.
Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins defeated Sheamus and Cesaro to become the new Raw tag team champions.
