Plenty to do during WWE WrestleMania Week in Orlando

WWE will host about 29 events in seven days in City Beautiful during WrestleMania Week Orlando. That’s amazing, but that’s not all. Other promotions and wrestling talent will be running fan fests, shows and parties during that time, when the world converges onto the host WrestleMania city/county. Here is a schedule of events during WrestleMania Week in Orlando from March 29-April 4.

Bellator Chael Sonnen discusses Tito Ortiz, WCW Power Plant

Bellator MMA fighter Chael Sonnen discusses his upcoming fight against Tito Ortiz, commentating Global Force Wrestling and training at the WCW Power Plant during a phone interview to promote Bellator 170: Ortiz vs. Sonnen. That event is Saturday, Jan. 21 from the beautifully renovated Forum in Inglewood, Calif. It will be broadcast live and free on Spike TV at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.

The Destroyer Dick Beyer wins PWI Stanley Weston Award

Pro Wrestling Illustrated (PWI) named “The Destroyer” Dick Beyer the recipient of the 2016 Stanley Weston Award, the magazine’s lifetime achievement award. One of the most famous masked wrestlers in the world, Beyer is a sports icon, a former world champion and an integral player in the relationship between the worlds of U.S. and Japanese wrestling that has extended for generations. The award is named after Stanley Weston, the magazine’s founder. Past recipients include Ric Flair, Lou Thesz and Bruno Sammartino.

Spike TV and Bellator present “Countdown to Ortiz vs Sonnen,” a one-hour special celebrating one of the most anticipated fights of 2017. From the gym to each fighter’s homes, Spike’s cameras shadow Tito Ortiz and Chael Sonnen as they prepare for one of the biggest fight of their careers. The special airs on Friday, Jan. 13 at 11:15 p.m. ET/PT.

Finalized is the broadcast schedule for AXS TV’s four-part Wrestle Kingdom 11 television event. In anticipation of Friday, Jan. 13’s premiere of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 11 on AXS TV, there is a preview video featuring IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada and challenger Kenny Omega discussing their headlining match.
