The soft, soothing toy can relax a child. The part that comes off can choke a child.
Kids Preferred recalled about 588,000 soft musical toys sold at Carter’s, Walmart and Target because a part might wind up choking a small child.
The problem with the toys, sold under the brand names Carter’s, Child of Mine, Guess How Much I Love You and Just One You, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice: “The metal post and/or handle of the wind-up mechanism can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children.”
Kids Preferred has gotten six reports of wind-up handle parts coming off, but no reports of choking children yet.
These toys were sold in brick-and-mortar stores and online from Jaunary 2016 through this past August. The recall isn’t for refunding, but replacement. For that, consumers should contact Kids Preferred at 1-888-968-9268 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday or email recall@kidspreferred.com.
