Sergei Bobrovsky continues to move up the NHL leaderboard for career wins by a goaltender.

His 16-save shutout in the Florida Panthers’ 3-0 win on Thursday over the Columbus Blue Jackets — a team he spent seven seasons playing for before signing with the Panthers — was the 423rd victory of his NHL career. That ties Bobrovsky with Tony Esposito for 10th most all-time in NHL history.

Sam Reinhart and Mackie Samoskevich scored power-play goals for the Panthers (39-21-3), who have won five consecutive games. Aleksander Barkov capped scoring with an empty-net goal late in the third and had the primary assist on both power-play goals for his ninth multi-assist game and fifth three-point outing of the season.

Bobrovsky now has 48 career regular-season shutouts, including four this season and two over his past three starts. He is 9-2-0 in his past 11 starts dating back to Jan. 21 and is 27-13-2 overall this season. He has given up two goals or fewer in eight of the nine wins over this 11-game stretch.

On Thursday, Bobrovsky was rarely challenged by Columbus (30-24-8). The 16 shots on goal against were tied for the fewest a Panthers team has allowed this season. It’s also the 10th time in 63 games this season a Florida opponent was held to 20 or fewer shots on goal in a game.

Of Bobrovsky’s 423 wins, 168 have come over his six seasons with the Panthers, while 213 were during his seven-season stint in Columbus and 42 came in his two years with Philadelphia to begin his NHL career.

Tenth place is most likely where Bobrovsky will finish this season. Jacques Palante is ninth in NHL history with 437 wins — 14 more than where Bobrovsky currently stands. The Panthers have 19 regular-season games left, including five sets of back-to-backs.

Notables from the win

With Reinhart’s power-play goal, he now has 10 power-play goals, five shorthanded goals and 17 even-strength goals on the season. He is just the fifth player in NHL history to have consecutive seasons with at least five shorthanded goals, 10 power-play goals and 15 even-strength goals. The others: Steve Yzerman (1989-91), Mario Lemieux (1987-89), Jari Kurri (1985-87) and Wayne Gretzky (3 straight from 1981-84).

The Panthers scored multiple power-play goals in a game for the first time since Dec. 5.

Jonah Gadjovich had two fights in the first period, dropping the gloves with both Joseph LeBate and Mathieu Olivier.

The Panthers’ penalty kill went a perfect 4 for 4 on Thursday. Since returning from the NHL’s break for the 4 Nations Face-Off, Florida has killed off 17 of 18 penalties.
