Florida Panthers could be hosting an outdoor game next season. What we know
The Florida Panthers, finally, are in line to participate in — and host — their first outdoor game.
A source confirmed to the Miami Herald on Tuesday that loanDepot park, home of the Miami Marlins, is in serious discussions with the Panthers to host the game next season, either in December 2025 or January 2026. The Marlins have expressed interest in potentially hosting a Panthers game for more than a year now.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman had previously said loanDepot park would be a viable option for such a game considering is “has a roof and is air conditioned.”
“I have not been there, but I hear it’s very nice,” Bettman said ahead of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final back in June, adding that “we are mindful of the fact that at some point it would be good for the Panthers to be in an outdoor game. We continue to explore options.’’
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman first reported the news of the Panthers potentially getting an outdoor game as soon as next season.
The Panthers are one of two teams that have never participated in an outdoor game, with the Utah Hockey Club.
