Super Bowl numbers: What’s Lizzo’s performance fee? The cheapest and most expensive shows?
This week’s Super Bowl’s parties and concerts promise to make some of the performers as busy as the Big Game’s quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Jimmy Garoppolo.
According to TicketIQ, a New York-based ticket search engine and aggregator, there are nearly 50 entertainment shows booked between Wednesday and Sunday pegged to the Super Bowl. The game itself is Sunday at Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium.
These include concerts by Harry Styles with Lizzo on Friday and Lady Gaga on Saturday, both at Meridian at Island Gardens on Watson Island. There’s the Miami Super Bowl Fest with Guns ‘n Roses, Dan + Shay, DJ Khaled and Maroon 5 over three nights Thursday to Saturday at downtown Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena.
And just added, after much praying and speculation: Kanye West, who plans to bring his gospel Sunday Service concert to the former Bayfront Park Amphitheater (now FPL Solar Amphitheater) in downtown Miami on Super Bowl Sunday.
TicketIQ did some figures crunching for Miami’s all-things Super Bowl week and came up with these fun trivia bits:
▪ The most booked performers are rappers DaBaby and Snoop Dogg, with six apiece. They are followed by DJ Khaled and Carnage with four apiece and Marshmello and Diplo with three apiece.
▪ LIV is the venue with the most booked shows. Not surprising since it shares the same name as Super Bowl LIV.
The Fontainebleau’s LIV is one of the places Snoop Dogg and Marshmello are playing on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively. Cardi B’s Big Game Weekend concert is Thursday at LIV and DJ Tiesto takes over Friday inside the Miami Beach hotel.
▪ Most popular music genres: Hip-hop (17 shows), pop (nine), DJs (five), country (two) and rock, just one: Guns n’ Roses. Sorry, Harry Styles. We know you kiss the ground Stevie Nicks walks on but for these purposes you’re going under the pop category.
▪ The most expensive ticket Friday night: A $25,000 ticket for the Leather and Laces 2020 Miami shindig at SoHo Studios on Northwest First Avenue. Snoop Dogg. (Again.) And Lil John.
▪ The most expensive ticket Saturday night: A $45,000 ticket for On Stage, the Maxim Big Game Experience Super Bowl party with the Chainsmokers, Rick Ross and Lost Kings.
▪ The cheapest ticket Friday night: $60 for DaBaby’s late night gig at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale. (He’s also doing the Super Bowl Fest in Miami on Thursday.
▪ The cheapest ticket Saturday night: $50 for Maroon 5 at Miami’s Super Bowl Music Fest at the AAA.
▪ The approximate cost of booking all of this talent for 2020 shows is $30 million, according to TicketIQ, based on booking rates published on CelebrityTalent.net. In 2014, the fees were a third of that at $10 million.
According to the site, recent Grammy winner Lizzo commands a fee between $300,000 to $499,000 for a performance and Styles gets $500,000 up to a million. Many artists’ management teams do not report to, or allow, Celebrity Talent to publicize the fees. So we don’t have a figure for Guns ‘n Roses or Lady Gaga.
