Dolphins vs. Chargers live updates: clutch kicking gets Bolts win over Phins

This one hurts. The Miami Dolphins lost 29-27 to the Los Angeles Chargers after Cameron Dicker hit a 33-yard field goal with less than 10 seconds left.

It was a particularly gut-wrenching loss considering when Tua Tagovailoa and the offense left the field with 52 seconds on the clock, they had the lead.

Unfortunately, a missed tackle courtesy of safety Dante Trader allowed Chargers wideout Ladd McConkey to turn what would’ve likely been just a short gain into a 42-yard, game-clinching reception.

The Dolphins are now 1-5 and travel to Cleveland to take on the Browns next week.

Here’s what you missed:

Finally a Darren Waller sighting

The star tight end managed just two catches on the day, but none were bigger than his fourth-quarter grab with under a minute left that, after the PAT, gave the Dolphins the 27-26 lead.

Dolphins cut score deficit in fourth

After a dismal third quarter that saw Tua Tagovailoa throw an interception and the Chargers put up 14, the Dolphins responded with a touchdown courtesy of De’Von Achane.

Dolphins now down 26-20 following a successful point after try with under eight minutes to play.

Catch of the day candidate

What insane concentration by Jaylen Waddle.

The wideout hauled in arguably the best catch of the game when Tua Tagovailoa tossed a 45-yard bomb his way to put the ball deep into Chargers territory.

The Dolphins would kick a field goal shortly thereafter to increase the Dolphins lead to 13-9. Los Angeles hit a pair of field goals late in the first quarter and in the second.

De’Von Achane’s house call

The Dolphins had trouble running the ball in last week’s loss to the Carolina Panthers.

That doesn’t seem to be the case today, as Achane just took a run 49 yards to the house.

Phins take the 7-3 lead.

Dolphins force fumble

The Dolphins have really been working that punch out. This time, it’s Rasul Douglas knocking the ball out of the rookie Oronde Gadsden’s hands. Jordyn Brooks had the recovery.

Kenneth Grants gets sack

The rookie is officially on the board after recording his first full sack of the 2025 season.

Unfortunately, the Chargers would hit a field goal a few plays later.

Bolts up 3-0.

BANNER:

Dolphins fans have made their feelings clear with yet another banner.

This time, the banner read “FIRE GRIER & MCDANIEL. HIRE TBT - THE BERMANTEAM - TBT.”

Whether the banner has any connection to the Berman Law Group, a firm based in Boca Raton, Fla., is unclear.

INACTIVES:

Aaron Brewer will suit up Sunday after initially being ruled questionable with a pectoral injury.

Other inactives include wide receiver Cedric Wilson Jr. (knee), defensive back Elijah Campbell (quadriceps), linebacker Tyrel Dodson (concussion), cornerback Storm Duck (ankle), tailback Jaylen Wright, defensive tackle Zeek Biggers and Quinn Ewers, the latter of whom will serve as the emergency third quarterback.
