Dolphins add two offensive linemen to practice squad + more practice notes

The Miami Dolphins added two offensive linemen to their practice squad.

Miami signed tackles Roy Mbaeteka and Kadeem Telfort on Tuesday in an attempt to add depth to a unit that has seen its fair share of injuries.

Mbaeteka joins the Dolphins as part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program. The Nigeria native initially came into the league through the program as a member of the New York Giants’ practice squad in 2022. He has since been a member of several practice squads including the Chicago Bears (2023), Cleveland Browns (2024) and Arizona Cardinals (2025).

A graduate of Miami Booker T. Washington High, Telfort joins the Dolphins after he appeared in 17 games, one of which occurred in the postseason, with the Green Bay Packers in 2024. He previously spent time on the Packers’ practice squad in 2023 after the franchise signed him as an undrafted free agent.

Telfort nearly had his college career derailed after he and eight of Florida Gators teammates were suspended after the university’s police department charged them with credit card fraud. Although Telfort pled no contest to one, third-degree felony charge of scheming to defraud in 2018, he spent the next two seasons at Garden City Community College then Highland Community College. Telfort then transferred to University of Alabama-Birmingham where he played from 2020 to 2022, receiving First Team All-Conference USA honors in his final year.

Right before his UAB career began, however, Telfort was indicted on several federal charges, including bank fraud and aggravated identify theft. He would subsequently reach a plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Northern District of Florida.

As of Tuesday afternoon, offensive linemen account for half of the Dolphins’ 12 injured reserve (IR) spots, while Liam Eichenberg remains on the physically unable to perform list. Two of the Dolphins starters in guard James Daniels and tackle Austin Jackson were placed on IR prior to the Week 2 matchup against the New England Patriots, making them eligible to return after the October 5 game versus the Carolina Panthers.

What happened at the 9/23 practice?

  • Cornerbacks Storm Duck (ankle) and Jason Marshall Jr. (hamstring) didn’t practice
  • Tight end Darren Waller did practice some individual, ran routes and, arguably most important, caught passes from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa
  • The players wore their new Rivalries uniform helmets in preparation for Monday night’s game against the New York Jets when both teams don the new colorway.
