Fins-Pats live updates: catch up on the best plays from the 33-27 loss to Pats

The Miami Dolphins fell to 0-2 Sunday in a 33-27 loss to the New England Patriots.

Despite having a chance to score the go-ahead touchdown on consecutive drives, penalties ended up costing the Dolphins the game. They also gave up a 90-yard kick return in the fourth quarter.

Catch up on what you missed below:

MALIK WASHINGTON WITH A 74-YARD PUNT RETURN TOUCHDOWN

This might be the best play of Washington’s young career.

What a game changer.

Fins up 27-23.

JORDYN BROOKS NOTCHES FIRST SACK OF SEASON

Just a captain doing captain things.

FINALLY A DEEP SHOT TO TYREEK HILL

It had been more than a calendar year since Hill’s last catch of more than 30 yards.

That changed Sunday when Tua Tagovailoa uncorked a 47-yard BOMB to the star wideout.

DE’VON ACHANE POWERS IN TD

Well, that took less than 90 seconds.

Achane has had some powerful finishes to his touchdown runs and I, for one, love it!

Fins still down 15-14.

CHOP GETS FIRST SACK OF SEASON

Cue the “Chop” celebration!

JAYLEN WADDLE’S FIRST TD OF ‘25 SEASON

The wideout scored the first touchdown of his career vs. the Patriots.

So it should be no surprise that Waddle started off 2025 with score against the Patriots.

Phins down 12-7.

CHUBB GETS SECOND SACK OF SEASON

Welcome back to Hard Rock Stadium, Mr. Bradley Chubb.

INACTIVES

The Miami Dolphins will be without second-string tailback Jaylen Wright as well as a depth cornerback Ethan Bonner when they battle the New England Patriots on Sunday, per the team.

Other inactives include cornerback Storm Duck, tight end Darren Waller, wideout Tahj Washington, defensive tackle Benito Jones and quarterback Quinn Ewers, the latter of whom will serve as the emergency third quarterback. Many of the players, however, including Duck (ankle), Waller (hip) and Jones (oblique) had been ruled out Friday.

‘FIRE GRIER. FIRE MCDANIEL’

Several Dolphins fans were determined to let their true feelings show.

A banner reading ‘FIRE GRIER. FIRE MCDANIEL.’ flew over Hard Rock Stadium this morning.

Check out the video below:

Dolphins set record

The Dolphins set an ignominious record when they permitted the opponent to score for a 13th consecutive time, a streak dating back to last season.

That’s the longest streak in the NFL this century; the Chargers had permitted scores on 11 possessions in a row in 2000.

The streak ended when the Patriots kneeled to end the first half. Miami then forced two punts in the second half.

Hill streak ends

Tyreek Hill caught a 47-yard touchdown pass, his first catch of 30 plus yards since Week 1 last season.
