The Miami Dolphins had eight picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Here’s a breakdown of each selection
The Miami Dolphins had eight picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
They addressed the trenches early and often, selecting three defensive tackles and one offensive lineman throughout the draft. Only towards the end did Miami take a few players in the secondary. The Dolphins also added a tailback and a quarterback.
Below is each pick and short blurb about how they fit in South Florida.
Name: Kenneth Grant
Age: 21
School: University of Michigan
Position: Defensive tackle
Height, weight: 6’3”, 339-pounds
Round (pick): 1 (13)
Dolphins fit: The Dolphins needed help along the defensive interior and decided to address it early with Grant, who will likely start at nose tackle. He has a unique blend of size and speed that will make him a surefire run-stopper who could develop into a serviceable pass-rusher.
Name: Jonah Savaiinaea
Age: 21
School: University of Arizona
Position: Offensive line
Height, weight: 6’4”, 324-pounds
Round (pick): 2 (37)
Dolphins fit: After a huge drop in rushing offense from 2023 to 2024, the Dolphins needed to address the interior offensive line. Savaiinaea seemingly fits the bill as versatile offensive lineman who has played both right and left tackle but also right guard, the latter of which is where he’ll likely compete for a starting job.
Name: Jordan Phillips
Age: 20
School: University of Maryland
Position: Defensive tackle
Height, weight: 6’3”, 320-pounds
Round (pick): 5 (143)
Dolphins fit: Although his pass-rush production lacks much to be desired (zero sacks in 23 starts), he’s rather explosive off of the snap and gives the Dolphins more depth at defensive tackle.
Name: Jason Marshall Jr.
Age: 22
School: University of Florida
Position: Cornerback
Height, weight: 6’0”, 201-pounds
Round (pick): 5 (150)
Dolphins fit: With the release of Kendall Fuller and Jalen Ramsey potentially on his way out via trade, cornerback emerged as a big hole ahead of the NFL Draft. Marshall brings size and quickness to the position group though he stands to improve in zone coverage and effort.
Name: Dante Trader Jr.
Age: 22
School: University of Maryland
Position: Safety
Height, weight: 5’11”, 202-pound
Round (pick): 5 (155)
Dolphins fit: A versatile safety who can play nickel, single-high or the robber, Trader has great instincts yet is a bit undersized and lacks ideal speed.
Name: Ollie Gordon II
Age: 21
School: Oklahoma State University
Position: Running back
Height, weight: 6’2”, 226-pounds
Round (pick): 6 (179)
Dolphins fit: The Dolphins have been rather dismal in short yardage situations since the beginning of the Mike McDaniel. With Gordon, they have a powerful, north-south runner whose 2023 rushing totals (1,732 yards and 21 touchdowns) led the entire FBS.
Name: Quinn Ewers
Age: 22
School: University of Texas
Position: Quarterback
Height, weight: 6’2”, 214-pounds
Round (pick): 7 (231)
Dolphins fit: With Tua Tagovailoa’s injury history, you can never have enough bodies in the quarterback room. While Ewers’ raw arm talent is intriguing and he’s certainly tough, he needs to improve when it comes to reading a defense.
Name: Zeek Biggers
Age: 21
School: Georgia Tech University
Position: Defensive tackle
Height, weight: 6’5.5”, 321-pounds
Round (pick): 7 (253)
Dolphins fit: Biggers possesses the ideal height, weight and length and can get his hands in passing lanes (seven pass breakups during his collegiate career). Still, Biggers will have to work on his speed as he’s rather slow off of the snap.
