Dolphins sign former Colts RB Jake Funk to practice squad
The Dolphins signed former Indianapolis Colts running back Jake Funk to their practice squad, the team announced Tuesday.
Funk replaces running back Darrynton Evans, who was on Miami’s practice squad but signed to the Chicago Bears’ 53-man roster on Monday.
Funk, a seventh-round pick of the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, was released by the Colts on Saturday and cleared waivers Monday. He has appeared in four games this season, carrying the ball twice for 10 yards. Funk, 5-10 and 205 pounds, has also contributed on special teams. In three seasons, the Maryland alum has four carries for 15 yards.
Rookie running back De’Von Achane will reportedly miss multiple weeks with a knee injury and could land on injured reserve, which would sideline him for at least four games. Miami also has Raheem Mostert, Salvon Ahmed and rookie Chris Brooks on the active roster. And Jeff Wilson Jr., who has missed the first five games of the season on IR, could return to practice this week.
