Podcast: How will Miami Heat handle NBA Draft, P.J. Tucker free agency?

The Miami Heat’s offseason begins with one big question: What will the Heat do with the 27th overall pick in Thursday night’s NBA Draft?

On a new episode of the Miami Herald’s Heat Check podcast, Anthony Chiang and David Wilson went through the Heat’s draft options and offered their predictions on what might happen with its first-round selection.

Chiang explained why trading out of the first round makes sense for the Heat and Wilson revealed his favorite prospects among those expected to be drafted in the Heat’s range. Both Chiang and Wilson like Ohio State forward E.J. Liddell for Miami, but he may already be off the board at No. 27.

But this week’s episode covered more than just the draft.

P.J. Tucker is expected to opt out of his $7.4 million player option with the Heat for next season and will receive plenty of interest from contending teams in the open market this summer. How far should the Heat be willing to go to re-sign Tucker? Chiang and Wilson broke down the different possibilities.

The busiest part of the NBA offseason is here and we have you covered with a new episode each week. As always, thanks for listening and please continue to rate, review and subscribe on Apple, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
