Miami Heat

Podcast: The Heat’s season is over. What did we learn and a preview of the offseason

The Miami Heat came close but fell just short of an NBA championship for the second time in the last three seasons.

In 2020, the Heat finished two wins away from a title. This season, the Heat finished five wins away from a title after losing in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics.

In this week’s episode of the Miami Herald’s Heat Check podcast, Anthony Chiang and David Wilson went over the end of the Heat’s season and why it’s the rare time a season-ending loss hasn’t been met with harsh criticism.

Among the topics discussed:

Was Jimmy Butler’s pull-up three in the final seconds of Game 7 the right shot?

How much did injuries impact the Heat in the East finals?

How did the Heat manage to even come just one shot away from beating the Celtics in Game 7?

Chiang and Wilson then moved on to what was said on exit interview day before previewing the offseason and some big roster decisions that the Heat needs to make in the coming weeks and months.

Should the Heat bring back most of this season’s roster next season? Chiang and Wilson gave their early opinions and predictions.

Even though it’s the offseason, we’ll have a new episode each week for most of the summer. As always, thanks for listening and please continue to rate, review and subscribe on Apple, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
