Heat rules out Kyle Lowry for Game 6 because of hamstring injury. And full injury report

The Miami Heat will try to close out the Philadelphia 76ers without starting point guard Kyle Lowry.

Lowry traveled with the team to his hometown of Philadelphia but was ruled out for Game 6 on Thursday night at Wells Fargo Center because of his strained left hamstring. The Heat holds a 3-2 lead in its second-round playoff series against the 76ers.

Thursday will mark the sixth game that Lowry, 36, has missed this postseason.

Lowry originally strained his left hamstring in Game 3 of the Heat’s first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks on April 22. He missed the next four games before returning for Game 3 of the second round and then re-aggravating the injury in the Heat’s Game 4 loss in Philadelphia on Sunday.

The Heat is 17-7 this season in games without Lowry, including 5-0 in the playoffs. Guard Gabe Vincent has started in Lowry’s place in each of the five games he has missed this postseason.

It was a struggle for Lowry after initially returning from the strained hamstring. He produced just six points on 3-of-14 shooting from the field and 0-of-8 shooting on threes, seven rebounds and 10 assists in Games 3 and 4 in Philadelphia — the two games he played in after first coming back from the injury.

Lowry limped and winced through 30 minutes of action in Game 4, finishing with six points on 3-of-10 shooting from the field and 0-of-6 shooting on threes, three rebounds, seven assists, two steals and four turnovers. He sat for the final 9:42 of the contest.

During the playoffs, Lowry has averaged 6.2 points on 29.7 percent shooting from the field and 20.3 percent on three-pointers. He has missed 17 of his past 20 threes.

Lowry is in the first year of a three-year, $90 million deal. Though he missed substantial time this season because of a family matter, he missed only one game due to injury during the regular season, with an ankle issue sidelining him for the Heat’s road opener in October.

The rest of the Heat’s injury report for Game 6 includes Tyler Herro (left ankle sprain), Caleb Martin (left ankle sprain), Max Strus (right hamstring strain), P.J. Tucker (right calf strain) and Gabe Vincent (right knee irritation). All are expected to be available to play on Thursday.
