Podcast: Instant reaction to Heat’s Game 2 win vs. 76ers and predictions for rest of series
After a first-round beatdown of the Atlanta Hawks, the Miami Heat took care of business at home to start Round 2 against the Philadelphia 76ers.
No Kyle Lowry has been no problem for the Heat, which is now up 2-0 in its second-round series after a 119-103 win against the 76ers on Wednesday at FTX Arena in Miami.
The next time the Heat comes back to Miami, it could be for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals.
This week on the Heat Check podcast, David Wilson and Anthony Chiang, the Miami Herald’s Heat beat writer, offer up some instant reaction to the Miami’s lopsided Game 2 win and what it means as the series now shifts to Philadelphia for Game 3 on Friday.
A return might be looming for 76ers superstar Joel Embiid, but the Heat has done exactly what it needed to do while the post player has been sidelined with a concussion and facial injury.
The best signs for Miami have been the resurgent performances of guard Tyler Herro and star post player Bam Adebayo. Herro led the Heat with 25 points in Game 1 after only topping 16 points once in Round 1, and Adebayo has scored 24 and 23 in back-to-back games after he averaged just 12.4 points per game in the opening round.
Throw in a 22-point, 12-assist game for All-Star forward Jimmy Butler in Game 2, and Miami’s best players have played their best at the time the Heat needs them most.
If Lowry can come back for Game 3 and add a little bit more, Miami might punch its ticket to the Eastern Conference finals sooner rather than later, especially if Embiid is out until Game 4.
