Miami Marlins’ series opener against Baltimore Orioles delayed. Here’s when it’ll start

The Miami Marlins’ first game of the unofficial second half of the 2023 MLB season will not start on time.

The Marlins’ series opener against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday was delayed due to “the threat of inclement weather,” as was announced in the ballpark at 6:40 p.m. First pitch at Oriole Park at Camden Yards was originally scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Instead, the game will start at about 8:10 p.m.

Sandy Alcantara (3-7, 4.72 ERA) is scheduled to pitch for the Marlins opposite Baltimore’s Dean Kremer (9-4, 4.78).

The Orioles groundscrew put the tarp on the field at about 6:20 p.m. after a flash of lightning filled the Baltimore sky followed by a loud clap of thunder.

The Marlins (53-39) also play Baltimore (54-35) at 7:05 p.m. Saturday and 1:35 p.m. Sunday.
