Miami Marlins

Podcast: What went well for the Marlins before the All-Star Break? And what’s next?

What a first half of the season the Miami Marlins had.

At the All-Star Break, the team sits with a 53-39 record, the second-best mark in the National League behind only the Atlanta Braves.

By pure number of wins, it’s the most in franchise history at the break. By win percentage, it’s the second-best the Marlins have ever had behind only the 1997 team that won the franchise’s first of two World Series.

What has gone right for the Marlins to this point in their first year under manager Skip Schumaker? From clutch moments to Luis Arraez to the improved bullpen to a starting rotation that’s finally living up to expectations, there’s a lot to discuss.

And discuss we did.

Miami Herald deputy sports editor Andre Fernandez (fresh off a night of playing pickleball) joins Marlins beat writer Jordan McPherson on the latest episode of Fish Bytes to break down the season to this point and where the team goes from here when the schedule resumes on Friday.

They also discuss the first half of the Marlins’ draft, focusing primarily on first-round pick Noble Meyer.
