Miami Marlins

Podcast: Marlins continue to impress... and don’t think they’re playing their best yet

The Miami Marlins have been one of the bigger surprises in baseball this season in Skip Schumaker’s first season as manager.

Well, at least to those outside of the organization.

The team always thought it had the talent to compete this season, and it’s showing why as the regular season nears the halfway mark.

The Marlins are 42-31 on the season, 11 games over .500 for the first time since the end of the 2009 season. They’re on a five-game win streak after their 11-0 shutout of the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday.

And they still think they’re merely scratching the surface.

In the latest episode of Fish Bytes, the Miami Herald’s Marlins beat writer Jordan McPherson takes a look at how this team has accomplished what it has accomplished so far and what could be next.
