Podcast: What Gurriel, Iglesias deals mean for Marlins. And World Baseball Classic update

It has been a busy past few days in the baseball world in South Florida.

For the Miami Marlins, it began Friday with the signing of veteran infielders Yuli Gurriel and Jose Iglesias to minor-league deals — a pair of moves that fortify their infield depth and give the team two more experienced hitters with a knack for making contact and limiting strikeouts.

For the baseball world as a whole, it began Saturday with the start of World Baseball Classic pool play for the five teams beginning the tournament at Miami’s loanDepot park, which will also host two of the four quarterfinal games, both semifinals and the championship over the course of the next week.

And wow have there been some good games already.

On the latest episode of Fish Bytes, Jordan McPherson, the Miami Herald’s Marlins beat writer, breaks down the importance of the Gurriel and Iglesias signings and takes a look at some of the highlights of Miami’s portion of the World Baseball Classic.
