Podcast: What Marlins can learn from World Series. And key offseason dates to know

When the Miami Marlins formally introduced Skip Schumaker as their manager on Thursday, chairman and principal owner Bruce Sherman said the franchise is “going to continue to measure success by winning championships.”

So far, that means the Marlins are 0 for 5 since Sherman’s ownership group bought the team ahead of the 2018 season. Miami has made the playoffs once in that span, reaching the National League Division Series in the shortened 2020 season.

As they maneuver through yet another offseason where decisions need to be made, the Marlins can learn a few things from the two teams that did make the World Series this year in the Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Jordan McPherson, the Miami Herald’s Marlins beat writer, takes a look into that on the latest episode of Fish Bytes before diving into Schumaker’s introductory press conference, his next steps and key offseason dates to know.
