Podcast: Breaking down Miami Marlins manager candidates. And World Series talk

The Miami Marlins’ search for a new manager is coming down to the final stretch.

There are four known candidates who have received second interviews to this point: Astros bench coach Joe Espada, Cardinals bench coach Skip Schumaker, Rays bench coach Matt Quatraro and Yankees third-base coach (and former Mets manager) Luis Rojas.

An announcement should be made soon but the exact timing is tricky considering Espada’s Astros are playing in the World Series, which begins Friday.

If Espada is the choice, the announcement will assuredly wait until after the World Series concludes. If Miami selects any of the other three, the announcement could come either in the days before Game 1 of the World Series on Friday, during one of the two off days during the World Series (Sunday between Games 2 and 3 or Thursday between Games 5 and 6 if the series lasts that long) or after the World Series.

On the latest episode of Fish Bytes, Miami Herald beat writer Jordan McPherson and deputy sports editor Andre Fernandez take a look at each of the four candidates. Afterward, they break down the World Series matchup between the American League Champion Astros and National League Champion Phillies.
