Another day, another injured list placement and another round of minor-league call ups for the Miami Marlins.

The moves on Friday, ahead of a three-game series with the New York Mets at loanDepot park: Left-handed pitcher Trevor Rogers landed on the 15-day IL with low back spasms while infielder Charles Leblanc and left-handed relief pitcher Jake Fishman had their contracts selected.

Willians Astudillo was designated for assignment and Max Meyer (torn UCL in right elbow) was moved to the 60-day IL to make room for Fishman and Leblanc on the 40-man roster.

Rogers has struggled all season, pitching to a 5.85 ERA over 87 2/3 innings through 19 starts. His most recent outing on Monday was one of his worst — six earned runs allowed on eight hits (including a three-run home run) over just 3 2/3 innings.

“It’s been really tough sometimes,” Rogers said after the start. “I really just try to take it in stride, look at what I did poorly and look at what I did well and take that into my next start, analyze it and get ready for my next start as best I can because thinking about this for two or three more days isn’t gonna help anybody. It’s not going to help myself. It’s not going to help the team. That’s all I can do really is just break down my start — What can I improve on? What did I do well? — and move on.”

Fishman, 27, is in the midst of a breakout season. He has posted a 1.87 ERA with 43 strikeouts against 16 walks over 43 1/3 innings for the Triple A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. He has pitched at least two innings in 14 of his 25 outings this season.

Leblanc, selected by the Marlins in the minor-league phase of the Rule 5 Draft last offseason, has hit .302 with an .884 OPS, 14 home runs, 20 doubles, 45 RBI and 47 runs scored over 87 games for Triple A Jacksonville.

Also with Rogers out, the Marlins need a starting pitcher for Saturday. They will likely go with Nick Neidert, who is with the team in Miami but has not been added to the 40-man or active roster.
