Podcast: Marlins entering key stretch of season after slow start. Plus minor-league talk

The Miami Marlins are about one-third of the way through their season. There are more than 100 games left on their slate.

But the next two weeks very well could shape how the final fourth months of the Marlins’ season play out.

Miami is in a deep hole, a 22-30 record that is the fourth-worst in the National League.

They need a good showing against the Washington Nationals over the next three days at home and need to find a way to do more than tread water on their upcoming 11-day, 10-game, three-city road trip against the American League West-leading Astros, Philadelphia Phillies and NL-leading New York Mets.

If they can’t? The Marlins might find themselves already too far behind to think about contending for the postseason.

Miami Herald Marlins beat writer Jordan McPherson and deputy sports editor Andre Fernandez talk about this and more on the latest episode of Fish Bytes.
