The Miami Marlins got a big early season road series win when they took two of three games against the defending World Series champion Atlanta Braves.

It capped a 15-game stretch to start the season in which Miami went 7-8 — a number that on its own isn’t spectacular but actually might be better than it looks considering the opponents the Marlins faced (San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Angels, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and Braves).

On the latest episode of Fish Bytes, Miami Herald Marlins beat writer Jordan McPherson and deputy sports editor Andre Fernandez take a look at the series and attempt to figure out exactly what this Marlins team could become.

Also discussed:

Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s move into the leadoff spot of the lineup and how he’s being used against left-handed pitching.

Our weekly minor-league update, highlighted this time by Max Meyer facing Ronald Acuna Jr.

A congratulation to Miguel Cabrera for joining the 3,000-hit club and a discussion about who might be the next player to join the rare group.
