The Miami Marlins play their first home game of the 2022 season Thursday when they host the Philadelphia Phillies at loanDepot park. Sandy Alcantara will be on the mound and throw the first pitch around 6:40 p.m. as the Marlins try to rebound after going 1-4 on their road trip against the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Angels to begin the season.

And there is still time to get your ticket, with single-game tickets available for as little as $19 on Stubhub as of Wednesday.

It will be the first home opener for the Marlins with a full capacity crowd since 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic arrived, and it will be the first chance for those who couldn’t make it to spring training to see the Marlins’ offseason additions — headlined by outfielders Jorge Soler and Avisail Garcia, infielder Joey Wendle and catcher Jacob Stallings — in person.

“So exciting to have a feeling of normalcy,” Marlins chief operating officer Caroline O’Connor said. “We’re ready to go.”

If you are planning to head to the ballpark, here’s what you should know.

When should I show up for the home opener?

Gates open at 4:30 p.m., with pregame festivities starting on the West Plaza and Biscayne Bay Brew Hall.

The team’s on-field pregame ceremonies begin at 6 p.m.

Grammy Award-winning artist Yandel will throw out the first pitch, while local artist Calen Santos will sing the national anthem.

The first 8,000 fans will also receive a 2022 magnet schedule.

All of the lights

Last month, loanDepot park became the first baseball facility in the country to install color-capable LED lights. The team plans to debut a light show after Thursday’s game.

New food options

Magic City BBQ, located at Section 7, will serve Southern-style barbecue

Bites de la Calle, located next to Magic City BBQ, will offer Latin-inspired street eats and include a Latin flavor-inspired bar

PINCHO, Miami’s Best, SuViche, and Fowl Pole will have new menu options.

La Arepera, in Section 32, will have (you guessed it) Venezuelan-style arepas.

Locally owned and operated Islas Canarias will serve coffee, croquetas and pastelitos from the coffee counter at AutoNation Alley for those who want a mid-game cafecito break.

And for those looking for craft cocktails, a new Jim Beam branded premium bar has been installed at Section 24 along the third base side of the Promenade Level; Tito’s Handmade Vodka will feature the ‘Miami Mule’ at various locations throughout the ballpark; and the Marlins Lager returns at the Biscayne Bay Brew Hall.

Mobile ordering for pick-up is available at all stand locations on the Promenade Level. There will also be self-ordering kiosks at selected locations. Mobile ordering for in-seat delivery is available in the PNC Club and other Field Level sections of the ballpark.

Only cashless payments (credit card, Apple Pay, etc) are accepted.

Parking

The Marlins will continue to use free-flow parking in the four garages around the stadium in partnership with the Miami Parking Authority. Fans are able to pay for their parking ahead of time or by using their mobile devices after parking.
