Podcast: Marlins and pennant race baseball, a COVID-19 update and Sixto Sanchez’s debut

*Taps mic.* Is this thing on?

With the Miami Marlins debuting players seemingly faster than we can keep track of them, the Miami Herald has decided to make a debut of its own related to its Marlins’ coverage.

Introducing: Fish Bytes, the Miami Herald’s new Marlins-centric podcast featuring beat writer Jordan McPherson. Similar to our other podcasts (which you should subscribe to if you haven’t already), Fish Bytes will provide you with weekly insight, commentary and analysis.

And now is as good of a time as ever to start. The Marlins are in the thick of the playoff race as we near the halfway point of the shortened 2020 season. Most of their players sidelined early in the year by COVID-19 are close to returning to the lineup (two are already back). And some of the team’s big-name prospects are making their big-league debuts, none of which was more heralded than the club’s No. 1 overall prospect Sixto Sanchez getting the call on Saturday and providing the first glimpse of what could be an extraordinary career.

We touch on all of that and more in our inaugural episode. Find a new episode out every Tuesday on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google, Stitcher, Megaphone and wherever else you get your podcasts.
