Marlins fans have a chance to manage the team for a day alongside Don Mattingly

Want a chance to be the Miami Marlins’ manager for a day? The opportunity is here.

The Marlins have joined Fanatics’ All In Challenge. The prize: One winner selected at random via a raffle (entries can be bought here) will get the opportunity to serve as the Marlins’ manager for a day alongside Don Mattingly. All money raised will be donated to Feeding America, Meals On Wheels, World Central Kitchen and No Kid Hungry.

In addition to receiving a $250 gift card for the Fanatics team store and a customized Marlins jersey, the experience includes:

Helping set the team’s lineup for the day

Participating in pregame batting practice on the field

Joining the team in the clubhouse pregame (pending MLB regulations due to COVID-19)

An autographed lineup card from Mattingly, photos with the Marlins’ 1997 and 2003 World Series trophies and standing with the team during the pregame lineup announcement.

“You can do basically anything you want,” Mattingly said in a prerecorded video on the Fanatics site. “You come in, you get to help us make the lineups, hang out with the boys. ... You run the show.”

This is the latest effort the Marlins have made to give back to the community even with their season on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

They, along with the other 29 MLB teams, have earmarked $1 million for ballpark employees who would have been working games in March and April. That includes concession workers, security, parking assistants and seasonal hires, among others.

The Miami Marlins Foundation also started the Home Plate Relief Fund that will provides weekly drive-thru food distribution at Marlins Park.

They have also provided about 3,000 meals to the nursing staffs and healthcare workers at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Jackson South Medical Center, Jackson North Medical Center, Miami VAHS: Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center and the University of Miami Health System.
