The Explorers clinched the District 14-8A title with a decisive 34-2 win over the Stingarees Thursday night at Columbus. It was the first district championship in school history won on the campus.
"This win closes out where we believe should have been last year," said quarterback Tucker Beirne. He led Columbus (8-1, 4-0) with 192 passing yards and two touchdowns.
Sophomore Christoper Henderson scored the first and last touchdown of the game on runs of 23 and 44 yards. He finished with 94 yards on seven carries.

Kicker Joseph Tolgyesi connected on two of three field goal attempts with makes from 39 yards and 34 yards as time expired in the first half.
Late in the fourth quarter, a bad snap led to Miami High (5-3, 2-2) earning a safety and avoiding a shutout. Keyshawn "Pie" Young led the Stingarees with 81 rushing yards on 10 carries.
