Bentavious Thompson, Jaquan Johnson fuel Miami Killian to win
Bentavious Thompson rushed for 176 yards on 19 attempts and three touchdowns to lead Miami Killian past the Palmetto Cougars, 43 - 7, at Harris Field on Friday night.
It was a tight game in the first quarter as Palmetto (1-6, 1-2) made a statement on offense with a 76-yard touchdown pass from Hugh Lowson to Ryan Warren, but a stingy Cougar defense and costly turnovers derailed their efforts.
Killian (6-0, 1-0) took a 20- 7 halftime lead, and did not look back. The Cougars went to work in the third quarter scoring 23 unanswered points, including a 45-yard fumble recovery returned for a score by safety Jaquan Johnson.
The Cougars will host South Dade next week.
