True North girls’ soccer standout Aaliyah Perez is the Dade High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

Perez, a freshman, scored two goals to lead the Titans to a 2-0 win over Westminster Academy in a Class 2A regional semifinal.

She followed up with a hat trick in True North’s 5-2 regional final win over South Florida HEAT to secure the Titans’ spot in the state semifinals.

On the season, Perez has scored 28 goals and added 10 assists.

Hialeah Educational boys’ basketball’s Reece Randolph, Southridge girls’ basketball’s Shanaii Gamble, Hialeah Gardens boys’ basketball’s Sebastian Pupo and Scheck Hillel boys’ soccer’s Adam Waich rounded out this week’s participants.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
