Results are in. Carrollton track standout voted Dade High School Athlete of the Week
Carrollton girls’ track and field standout Arianna Garcia is the Dade High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Garcia, a freshman, won the 400 meter hurdles in 1:04.14 at the Westminster Academy Invitational and also finished runner-up in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.26 seconds.
Garcia was also second-team All-Dade for cross country in the fall after finishing 51st at state in the Class 2A meet with a 5K time of 20:02.
Doral baseball’s Adrian Santana, Florida Christian girls’ tennis’ Annabella Degoti, Miami Christian baseball’s Willy Mendez and Sunset baseball’s Johan Hidalgo rounded out this week’s participants.
The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
