Results are in. Palmer Trinity soccer standout voted Dade High School Athlete of the Week

Palmer Trinity girls soccer’s Brooklyn Schiffrin is the Dade High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

Schiffrin, a freshman, scored a combined five goals and one assist in two district matches to lead the Falcons to wins over Marathon and Coral Shores and the District 16-3A championship.

On the season, Schiffrin has scored eight goals and added three assists.

Palmer Trinity is 13-2-1 on the season and will face Westminster Christian in a Region 4-3A semifinal on Friday.

MAST Academy boys’ soccer’s Luka Szymanski, LaSalle boys’ soccer’s Santiago Sanchez, South Dade boys’ wrestling’s Sawyer Bartelt and North Miami girls’ wrestling’s Mya Bethel rounded out this week’s participants.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
