Results are in. Lourdes soccer standout voted Dade High School Athlete of the Week
Lourdes soccer’s Sienna Aviles is the Dade High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Aviles, a sophomore, scored the game-winning goal in the Bobcats’ 1-0 victory over previously unbeaten Archbishop McCarthy on Jan. 18. On the season, Aviles has five goals and four assists.
Lourdes, a front-runner in Class 6A, is 12-1-2 heading into districts.
Palmetto boys’ basketball’s Matthew Mariena, Somerset Silver Palms girls’ basketball’s Shanaii Gamble, South Dade boys’ wrestling’s Cordell White and Mater Lakes boys’ basketball’s Christian Reid rounded out this week’s participants.
The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
