Miami Herald readers voted Archbishop Carroll running back Alejandro Isaza as the fans’ choice for Dade high school football offensive MVP for the 2022 season.

Isaza, a junior, played a pivotal part in guiding Archbishop Carroll to a breakthrough season that included a 9-2 record and a district championship. The running back totaled 1,286 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns on 140 carries — good for 9.2 yards per rush.

This included 185 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns in Archbishop Carroll’s 50-15 win over Westminster Christian to secure the district title.

Isaza was one of 10 players on the poll, which received 3,360 votes.

The other nine: Norland quarterback Ennio Yapoor, Columbus quarterback Alberto Mendoza, True North wide receiver J-Roc Lopez, Central quarterback Keyone Jenkins, Homestead quarterback Joshua Townsend, Booker T. Washington running back Antwan Smith, Doral Academy running back Mark Wilder, Northwestern quarterback Taron Dickens, Coral Reef running back Nicholas Lardizabal and Krop running back Julius Pascal.

The Miami Herald will be publishing its choices for Players of the Year for football in late January.
