Results are in. Lourdes basketball standout voted Dade High School Athlete of the Week

Lourdes girls’ basketball standout Luciana Picasso is the Miami-Dade High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

Picasso, a junior, totaled 15 points, 14 rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocks to lead the Bobcats to a 50-41 win over Miami Northwestern on Dec. 6.

On the season, Picasso has averaged 13.9 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. Lourdes is 5-5 on the season but has won five of its past seven games.

About 13,600 people voted in this week’s poll. Archbishop Carroll girls’ basketball’s Adena Webster, Westwood Christian’ boys’ basketball’s Gabriel Gallego, Coral Gables boys’ soccer’s Sky Carrizo and Southridge boys’ basketball’s Koree Cotton rounded out this week’s participants.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
