Results are in. Florida Christian basketball standout voted Dade High School Athlete of the Week
Florida Christian boys’ basketball standout Alex Soto is the Miami-Dade High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Soto, a junior, led all scorers with 22 points and had eight rebounds in a 69-65 overtime win over Miami Christian on Dec. 2 for the Patriots’ first win of the season.
Soto is averaging 15.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game through Florida Christian’s first seven games of the season.
Columbus football’s Sedrick Irvin Jr., Miami Central football’s Keyone Jenkins, Homestead football’s Isaac Brown and North Miami’s girls’ basketball’s Jadore Hayesrounded out this week’s participants.
The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
