Results are in. Palmer Trinity football QB voted Dade High School Athlete of the Week again
Palmer Trinity football standout Aden Davenport is the Miami-Dade High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll. This is Davenport’s second consecutive time being voted player of the week.
Davenport, a senior quarterback, completed 27 of 37 passes for 469 yards and three touchdown passes for the Falcons in a 58-37 loss to True North in the Region 4-1M final.
Despite the loss, he played an integral role in Palmer Trinity advanced the farthest in the playoffs in school history.
On the season, Davenport completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 2,144 yards and 24 touchdown against five interceptions.
More than 85,000 votes were cast in this week’s poll, with Davenport receiving 49 percent of the votes. Lourdes girls’ soccer standout Gabriella Paredes, True North football’s J-Roc Lopez, Gulliver Prep boys’ basketball’s Jeremy Arnum and Homestead football’s Joshua Townsend rounded out this week’s participants.
The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — now one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
