Ferguson-Varela game rescheduled because of lightning

A District 15-8A matchup between Ferguson and Varela was suspended at Tropical Park during the fourth quarter because of a lightning delay. It will resume at 4p.m. Monday.

The Falcons led 20-12 with 10:20 left in the fourth quarter and the Vipers facing a third-and-3 from their 31-yard line. Ferguson had captured the lead on senior Linos Hall’s 68-yard touchdown run a minute earlier. Lightning struck the area at 8:55 p.m. Both teams returned to the field at 9:19 when the alarm gave the all-clear, but the siren went off again as players stretched.

Ferguson had rushed for 272 yards.
