Miami High runs wild in win over Miami Beach
Miami High running back Keyshawn “Pie” Young led a relentless rushing attack for the Stingarees (3-0, 1-0) in a 49-7 rout over Miami Beach (2-1, 0-1) at Memorial Field.
Johnson finished with 149 yards and two rushing touchdowns on 13 carries. Running back Trent Gordon and quarterback Keith Johnson each ran for two touchdowns as well.
“He’s a playmaker and every time he touches the ball is a potential six points,” Miami High coach Ivan Rosales said of Young. “As long as he gets the ball in his hands, we have confidence that he will make a play for us.”
With their starting running back injured, the Stingarees went all in with their running game and it paid off: Miami High ran for 365 total yards.
The Hi-Tides struck quickly when Markel Anderson returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown to give Miami Beach the early lead. But after that, the Hi-Tides could not get anything going on offense and committed four costly turnovers against a stingy Miami High defense.
