Results are in. Coral Springs Charter softball standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week

Coral Springs Charter softball standout Courtney Wahlbrink is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

Wahlbrink, a freshman, allowed seven hits, one earned run with 26 strikeouts over 20 innings in three games to earn MVP honors and lead the Panthers to a repeat BCAA Big 8 championship.

On the season, Wahlbrink has a 0.49 ERA, giving up just 10 earned runs in 143 innings while striking out 203 batters she has faced.

Coral Springs Charter is 24-3 on the season and ranked sixth overall in the state of Florida.

Stoneman Douglas girls’ lacrosse’s Taylor McGovern, Flanagan baseball’s Joel Herrera and Pine Crest baseball’s Cooper Obst rounded out this week’s participants.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
