American Heritage baseball standout Talan Holiday is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

Holiday, a junior, pitched a perfect game, striking out 12 in a 7-0 win over Taravella.

On the season, Holiday has pitched to a 1.64 ERA with 55 strikeouts against just eight walks over 42 2/3 innings to help the Patriots to a 15-10 record.

NSU University School baseball’s Landon Petty, Pembroke Pines Charter flag football’s Jocelyn Garcia and Stoneman Douglas baseball’s Niko Benestad rounded out this week’s participants.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
