Somerset Academy wrestling standout Jovani Solis is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

Solis, an eighth grader, completed a stellar undefeated season with a 11-4 victory over Johnathan Moder of Naples First Baptist at 132-pounds. Solis went an unblemished 63-0 this season en route to helping Somerset to a Class 1A team title.

St. Thomas Aquinas softball’s Christina D’Agostino, Flanagan baseball’s Brayden Allison, Stoneman Douglas baseball’s Niko Benestad, North Broward Prep boys’ basketball’s Enrico Borio and South Broward boys’ soccer’s Luis Perdomo rounded out this week’s participants.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
