Results are in. Aquinas soccer standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week
St. Thomas Aquinas girls’ soccer standout Genesis Hernandez is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Hernandez, a senior, scored a combined four goals to lead the Raiders to wins over South Plantation and Cooper City and a berth in the Region 4-6A final. The Raiders then defeated Lourdes in the regional final for a spot in the state final four.
On the season, Hernandez has 19 goals and one assist.
Cardinal Gibbons girls’ basketball’s Kayla Greyvensteyn, Pines Charter boys’ basketball’s Josh Harris, Calvary Christian boys’ basketball’s Shon Abaev, Cypress Bay girls’ soccer’s Daniela Duran and Soerset Academy girls’ track and field’s Aleesa Samuel rounded out this week’s participants.
The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
