Results are in. Westminster basketball standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week
Westminster Academy boys’ basketball Alex Lloyd is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.
Lloyd totaled 58 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists to lead the Lions to wins over North Broward Prep, Northeast and Somerset Prep.
On the season, Westminster Academy is 20-5 and riding a nine-game win streak. Lloyd is averaging 20.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2 steals per game.
Stoneman Douglas girls’ wrestling’s Gabriela Caro, Fort Lauderdale girls’ soccer’s Lily O’Neil, Cardinal Gibbons boys’ wrestling’s Michael Mocco, South Broward boys’ soccer’s Lucas Velazco and NSU University School’s Shayle Delacruz rounded out this week’s participants.
The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
