Results are in. Monarch football standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week

For a second consecutive week, a Monarch football standout is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll, as the Knights continue their unprecedented march toward a potential state championship.

Last week, it was senior linebacker Santana Harrison.

This week, it’s junior Antonio Ward.

Ward ran nine times for 102 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-13 win over Palm Beach Central to secure Monarch’s spot in Friday’s Class 4M state semifinal against Jacksonville Mandarin.

Cardinal Gibbons boys’ soccer’s Dylan Gracia, American Heritage football’s Byron Louis and Chaminade-Madonna football’s Davion Gause rounded out this week’s participants.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
