Results are in. Monarch football standout voted Broward High School Athlete of the Week

Monarch football standout Santana Harrison is the Broward High School Athlete of the Week, as voted on by readers in our weekly poll.

Harrison, a senior, recorded 13 tackles, including two for loss, intercepted two passes, forced a fumble, deflected a pass and recorded a sack to lead the Knights to a 50-27 win over Lantana Santaluces in a Region 3-4M semifinal.

Heading into Monarch’s regional final against Palm Beach Central, Harrison has tallied 51 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, four sacks and two interceptions.

Pine Crest boys’ golf’s Alexander Weinberg, Miramar football’s Eric Nelson, Dillard girls’ cross-country’s Christiana Coleman and American Heritage football’s Omar Thornton rounded out this week’s participants.

The Miami Herald Athlete of the Week polls — one each for Miami-Dade and Broward counties — open Sunday every week and close around 10 p.m. Thursday.
